Entry Title: After 8 days, UChicago pro-Palestine encampment removed on morning of May 7
Entry Credit: Jaya Alenghat, Chloƫ Alexander, Mia Lipson, Olin Nafziger
Judge Comment: This tells a gripping story. The visual narrative is wonderfully done. This is truly professional caliber work!
  • Place Name: Second Place
Contestant Name: University of Chicago Laboratory High School
Entry Title: Exchange students arrive from China; Lunar New Year performance amazes
Entry Credit: Bryce Kenny, Olin Nafziger, Orlie Weitzman
Judge Comment: These are beautifully composed photos. A great deal of thought and care obviously went into planning the coverage of this event. The execution is flawless!
  • Place Name: Third Place
    Contestant Name: Kaneland High School
Entry Title: Kaneland Boys Basketball Wins Sectional Championship over Crystal Lake South
    Entry Credit: Sarah Slattery
Judge Comment: Powerful action shots, but would have liked more horizontals. The verticals crop out too much of the surrounding action and atmosphere. Also, the photos seemed out of order. The gallery appears to begin with the post-game celebration. Those are terrific photos, but they would have more impact if they were placed sequentially at the end of the gallery.
  • Place Name: Honorable Mention
Contestant Name: Walter Payton High School
Entry Title: Black History Month Compass
Entry Credit: Alexa Gola, Leah Galibois
Judge Comment: Excellent variety of shots. The gallery really brings the event to life.
  • Place Name: Honorable Mention
    Contestant Name: Kaneland High School
Entry Title: Kaneland falls to DePaul College Prep in Super-Sectional round
    Entry Credit: Sarah Slattery
Judge Comment: Very impressive action shots. The gallery would have been stronger with some shots of the team (and even their fans) reacting to the loss.
  • Competition Comment: NOTE: The "Flying high" entry appeared to consist of only one photo. The photo itself was excellent, but this category calls for at least five photos as part of a gallery or slideshow.
