Evanston Township wins IHSA title as state journalism tournament celebrates 10th year

The Eastern Illinois University campus was buzzing with high school journalists May 1 as the best in the state competed for individual medals and team trophies.

21 schools receive funds to help their scholastic journalism programs, thanks to the Illinois Press Foundation's annual program of mini-grants.
Janet Levin, who has advised The Correspondent newspaper at John Hersey High School in Arlington Heights for 30 years, receives the news that she has won the IJEAs highest honor for a journalism educator: the James A Tidwell Award.

Congratulations to 2015 Illinois Journalist of the Year Ashley Yong of Hinsdale South, and her adviser Jim Kelly. JEA's East Region Director Stan Zoller and Illinois State Director Brenda Field made the announcement at the high school Monday, March 2.
