CONTEST UPDATE: In recognition of the time crunch that many of our members face at this time of the school year, we have extended by one week the deadline for submitting entries to the 2024 IJEA News & Digital News Media Contest. The deadline is now 10:59 p.m. Friday, March 22.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Dave Porreca ([email protected]) or Linda Jones ([email protected]). Good luck to you and your students!

IJEA newspaper and multimedia advisers: The 2024 platform for our annual Newspaper & Digital News Media Contest is now up and running! You can find it here:

2024 IJEA Newspaper & Digital News Media Contest Platform

For instructions and screenshots on how to use the platform, please consult this page:

Special Instructions for Using Our Contest Platform

The same instructions (minus screenshots) can be found in the “SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS” section when you arrive at the platform homepage.

Thanks to our partnership with BetterBNC, the 2024 platform will continue to offer a smooth and efficient contest experience.

We introduced the BNC platform in 2022 to replace the online entry forms that our contest had used from spring 2016 to spring 2021. Our competition categories and basic scoring structure, however, remained unchanged.

In 2024, the categories and scoring structure will continue to be the same, as will the requirement that advisers fill out the Adviser Information Form, which provides information essential to determining the proper enrollment division and publication category for each school.

So to sum up, advisers who want to enter their students’ work in the 2024 contest will be asked to complete the following two steps:

1) Submission of the Adviser Information Form.

2) Submission of entries via our BNC contest platform.

In addition, there will be a one-time entry fee of $20. As in the past, all advisers of competing schools must be current members of the IJEA. The membership fee for 2023-24 is $25.

More information about the contest, including payment of fees, is available on the 2024 platform homepage and here on the IJEA website.

The EXTENDED DEADLINE for this year’s contest submissions will be 10:59 p.m. Central Time on Friday, March 22, 2024. The contest platform will automatically cease accepting entries at that time.

We believe the BNC platform has made the process of submitting your entries even easier than before. The judging process is also more efficient under the new system, and the results are organized and collated much more quickly for distribution to all participants.

Thank you for your past support of IJEA and all of our competitions. Good luck to you and your students in the 2024 contest!
