Changes on the Way for IJEA Newspaper & Digital News Contest
Although many things about our annual newspaper competition will remain the same, we will be joining with BetterBNC to provide a new and more efficient platform for submitting entries.
December 19, 2021
IJEA newspaper and multimedia advisers:
A new format is coming for our annual Newspaper & Digital News Media Contest!
We are partnering with BetterBNC to offer a smoother and more efficient contest experience.
The competition categories and basic scoring structure will remain the same, but participants will be directed to the BNC platform to submit their entries. The existing entry forms on the IJEA website will no longer be used. Once the BNC platform is in place, we will remove the old forms from our site.
We expect the new contest platform to be ready by mid-January. PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT ANY ENTRIES until the new platform is in place. We will notify all IJEA members when entry submissions can begin.
The deadline for this year’s contest submissions will be 11:59 p.m. March 15, 2022. With respect to that deadline, the new platform will automatically cease accepting entries when midnight strikes on March 16, so deadline extensions will no longer be possible as they were in previous years.
We will keep you informed about the new platform. We believe this will make the process of submitting your entries even easier than before. The judging process will also be more efficient under the new system, and the results will be organized and collated much more quickly for distribution to all participants.
Thank you for your past support of IJEA and all of our competitions. We are excited about this next step in what we can offer our members!
And if you’ve read this far, we want to recommend a new article by IJEA member Jason Block of Prospect High School. It was just published in JEADigitalMedia.org, and it’s a great read! You can find it here.
You can also find the article on the IJEA website. We thank Aaron Manfull, editor of JEADigitalMedia.org, for permission to republish the piece!
