Qualifiers in 17 events were chosen today at seven sectional sites for the IHSA journalism state final, which takes place Friday in Charleston. Check out the top five teams at each sectional, and be sure to click the links in the story below for individual results.

Students from more than 80 high schools competed today in the Illinois High School Association journalism sectionals, which took place at seven locations around the state.
The top three finishers in each of the 17 events at each contest site qualified for the May 1 state final at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. For the complete list of state qualifiers, visit the IHSA/Speechwire page here.
In the team sweepstakes, sectional championships went to eight schools (two schools shared a title): Fremd, Edwardsville, Evanston Township, Huntley, Downers Grove North, co-winners Taylorville and Urbana University, and Homewood-Flossmoor. The following were the top five teams in each sectional:
