It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sarah Doerner, IJEA’s longest-serving president. Sarah died Nov. 29 in Du Quoin at the age of 86. Services were held Dec. 7. See below for our tribute to this great journalism educator.

Publication Contests

OUR CONTEST MAINSTAYS — NEWSPAPER AND YEARBOOK!

The Illinois Journalism Education Association sponsors two publication contests each year, one for yearbooks and the other for newspapers. Members are entitled to enter their students into one of those competitions for free, although they must pay the contest fee if they also enter students into the other competition.
