Recognizing the Best
Among Illinois Scholastic Journalism

The Illinois Journalism Education Association sponsors four competitions that honor different aspects of student journalism: our yearbook contest (November), our Illinois Journalist of the Year competition (February), our All-State Journalism Team selection (March), and our newspaper and digital news media contest (March).

For students to be eligible to compete in any of these contests, their advisers must be IJEA members. Each IJEA member is entitled to enter either the yearbook or newspaper contest for free.
